THE SKANEATELES FESTIVAL
Here's a sneak preview of the 2010 Season... Week One: Three's Company Week Two: Golden Oldies Week Three: White Nights Week Four: Hilary and Friends Here's a look back at the 2009 Season... A 30th Anniversary Season of sensational summer songs came to a close Labor Day weekend as two old Festival friends, Andres Cardenes and Eliot Fisk, delighted a full house of 700 people on the Brook Farm lawn. Eliot completed his unforgettable run of appearances on four consecutive nights with Rodrigo's Fantasia for a Gentleman as Andres conducted the Festival Chamber Orchestra. Then Andres concluded the season as soloist in Piazzolla's Four Seasons in Buenos Aries. This week of Latin music wrapped up another diverse season that included tributes to Felix Mendelssohn, our own 30 years of history, and music made in New York. We welcomed back old friends who remember the Festival's early days - Steve Doane, Mark Kaplan, Deborah Chodacki, Peggy Pearson - and new friends like the Jupiter Quartet, the up-and-coming Parker Quartet, and pianist Conrad Tao. And we were thrilled to have composer Carter Pann with us for a week to prepare the world premiere of his Summer Songs, commissioned by the Festival to celebrate our 30th anniversary and featuring the works of five local poets. Listen to WAER's coverage of the first week of the 2009 Season!
