Kaelem Michel, the 2019 Robinson Award winner, will perform prior to the regular concert. Featuring appearances by Artistic Director, Aaron Wunsch. Free for 8/22 ticket holders.

Kaelem Michel, piano

Kaelem Michel, 14, resides with his family in Fayetteville, NY. Kaelem began playing piano at age 9 and has been studying with Patricia DeAngelis since 2015 and has also worked with Steven Heyman since 2018. He has won numerous local and international piano competitions, including 1st place at Steinway & Sons Junior Piano Competition in Senior Division in 2019. Kaelem is an active participant in master classes and pre-professional training in piano and chamber music. He attended an Eastman Summer Music Camp at Keuka College, NY, and the Lyra Music Festival at Smith College, MA and this summer will attend a music festival in Austria. Kaelem has given solo and clarinet-duet recitals with his younger brother at local venues and at last year's Summer Suite event. He also performed at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library in La Jolla, CA and the Howland Cultural Center in Beacon, NY. He has been composing solo pieces for piano and duets with other instruments and has recently been working with Texu Kim, teaching professor of Music Theory/Composition at Syracuse University. Kaelem also enjoys biking, painting and taking photographs.

Aaron Wunsch, piano

Pianist Aaron Wunsch enjoys a multifaceted career as a performer, presenter, and educator. Lauded for his "masterful" performances (Hartford Courant), he has collaborated in performance with cellist Lynn Harrell, clarinetists Charles Neidich and Anthony McGill, violinists Miranda Cuckson and Jennifer Koh, and the Miró, Jupiter, and Parker Quartets. He has worked with numerous composers, including Thomas Adès, Nico Muhly, and Kaija Saariaho, and makes frequent recital and teaching tours to Asia. A native of Wisconsin, he studied at Yale University, the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Fulbright Fellowship) and at The Juilliard School, and is currently on faculty at Juilliard and Artistic Director of the Music Mondays series in New York City (www.musicmondays.org) and the Skaneateles Festival (www.skanfest.org). www.aaronwunsch.com.
