Backstage Pass "Write It For Me: Composers, Performers & Dedicatees"

Join the Claremont Trio for a glimpse into the relationships among composers, performers, and dedicatees. The Trio considers historical examples of Beethoven and Brahms but also shares their own (often-amusing) stories about working with composers, having commissioned and premiered over a dozen trios.

Claremont Trio

(Emily Bruskin, violin; Julia Bruskin, cello; Andrea Lam, piano )

Lauded as "one of America's finest young chamber groups" by TheStrad, the Claremont Trio is sought after for its virtuosic and richly communicative performances. First winners of the Kalichstein-Laredo-Robinson International Trio Award, and the only piano trio ever to win the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, the Claremonts are consistently praised for their "aesthetic maturity, interpretive depth, and exuberance" (Palm Beach Daily News).

During the 2014-15 season the Claremont Trio performedat the Library of Congress (DC), the San Miguel International Festival (Mexico), the Sanibel Music Festival (FL), Concerts at the Point (MA), Music Mondays (NY), Dayton Vanguard Concerts (OH), the Rockport Chamber Music Festival (MA), and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (MA). Highlights of recent seasons include concerts at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, for the Chamber Music Societies of Phoenix, Dallas, Sedona, Cincinnati, Detroit, San Antonio, and the Universities of Washington, Wisconsin, and Missouri.

Bridge Records released the Claremont Trios recording of the Beethoven Triple Concerto with the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra and Beethovens Trio Op. 1 No. 1 in 2012 to critical acclaim. Their discography also includes trios by Ravel, Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Arensky, Leon Kirchner, Ellen Zwilich, Paul Schoenfield, Mason Bates, and a collaborative disc with clarinetist Jonathan Cohler which received a Critics CHOICE award from BBC Magazine.

The Claremont Trio was formed in 1999 at the Juilliard School. Twins Emily and Julia Bruskin and pianist Andrea Lam are all based in New York City near their namesake: Claremont Avenue.
