A Cabaret Evening with Ute Lemper

Cabaret legend Ute Lemper is beloved the world over for her captivating stage presence. “One of the great chanteuses” (New Yorker), the singer-actress starred in the musicals Cabaret and Chicago in New York, London, and Paris, and is the world’s leading performer of Kurt Weill’s music (“Mack the Knife”). She brings her all-star international band of piano, bandoneon, bass, and drums to the Robinson Pavilion at Anyela’s Vineyards. Local restaurant, Rosalie's Cucina, will offer a buffet from 5-6:30pm. Ute Lemper

Born in Munster, Germany, Ute completed her studies at The Dance Academy in Cologne and the Max Reinhardt Seminary Drama School in Vienna. She has been universally praised for her interpretations of the works of Kurt Weill, Berthold Brecht, and the Chansons of Marlene Dietrich, Edith Piaf, Astor Piazzolla, and many others, as well as her portrayals in musicals and plays on Broadway, in Paris, Berlin and in London's West End.
Ute has recently toured the world with Ultimo Tango, presenting a journey through the songs of Astor Piazzolla. She also completed a packed-house concert series with the Jazz at Lincoln orchestra and Wynton Marsalis at Rose Hall in New York City, dedicated to the music of Kurt Weill. She was nominated for a Grammy Award for her CD "Berlin Days / Paris Nights" with the Vogler String Quartet and Stefan Malzew on Piano.
Her professional musical debut in a was in the original Vienna production of Cats in the roles of Grizabella and Bombalurina. She went on to play Peter Pan in Peter Pan (Berlin) and Sally Bowles in Cabaret (Paris) for which she received the Moliere Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She created the part of Velma Kelly in London's production of Chicago in the West End, for which she was honored with the Laurence Olivier Award, and moved to the Broadway production after one year to receive the American Theatre Award.

Known for his creative, expressive playing, deep grooves and total commitment to "serving the song and supporting the artist," New York drummer/percussionist/producer Todd Turkisher has been a powerful rhythmic presence on the stage and in the studio for more than 35 years.

With credits that span pop, jazz, rock, and avant-garde, Todd has been called upon by some of the most respected and influential musicians in the business.On the road, Todd has played some of the world's most revered concert halls, opera houses and theaters, and has performed on network television shows, at international jazz festivals, and with such celebrated orchestras as the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
